Sunday 4th September 2011 Mufuta at Wortley Top Forge

The electric locomotive "Mufuta" that used to be seen on the Sandtoft Miniature Railway and from 2000 at Thorne was able to provide a regular train service at the miniature railway at Wortley Top Forge operated by the Wortley Top Forge Model Engineers. It is the first time since 2nd June 2002 that "Mufuta" has operated beyond the tracks at Thorne. P.S. Above that is not the steam locomotive "Remus" approaching that once used to operate at Thorne.

The electric locomotive "Mufuta" on the passing loop at the Wortley Central Station. "Mufuta" passes the tipper wagons of the forge, whilst below a sight we shall probably never see again at Thorne, "Mufuta" alongside a Romulus locomotive.

And Finally "Romulus" and "Remus"

The steam locomotive "Romulus" at Wortley Top Forge on the 4th September 2011. "Remus" at Sandtoft in 1999 looking resplendent on the passing loop at the now closed and removed Sandtoft Central Station.  2012? Perhaps Remus and Romulus may just be able to operate alongside each other for next years event at Wortley Top Forge Miniature railway.

Sunday 18th September 2011 Model Weekend at Sandtoft

Sadly there was no 5 inch gauge portable layout at this years event as last year but there was plenty models representing railways  and other forms of transport. Graham Bilby with his "0" scale layout which had both clockwork and steam locomotives. Behind Graham are trolleybuses from Edmonton and Reading.

Memories for the older generation who once had those tin plate "0" gauge models in their Christmas Stockings worth a fortune now. To the right a Scaletrix display.

A huge display of the Hornby three rail layout in the new children's display hall. Meanwhile a chance to have a Bacon Butty and watch the trolleybuses going past the café. Maidstone 57 ding the honours whilst the former Ashton Under Lyne trolleybus awaits its driver for the first run of the day.

Doncaster vehicles on display. To the left is Doncaster's last Trolleybus of the 14th of December 1963 looking rather sad awaiting donations and funding to get it back into service once again. Behind the Electroline Trolleybus ids Doncaster single deck motorbus No 22 which has been resplendently restored by the Doncaster Omnibus and Light Railway Society. Click here if you could help to fund or restore Doncaster 375. Information etc will be forwarded to Len Smith the project coordinator.

Sunday 16th October 2011 at Thorne

Sunday 16th October 2011 Jordan and team set about putting some the motion back together of the steam locomotive Remus so that in the near future the locomotive can take to the tracks at Thorne and at Wortley Top Forge near Sheffield.

Jordan, David and James discuss what to do next, that's an idea then lower it down to the shed track in readiness to take it out onto the track for the first time in about two years.

The chassis sees day light again on the shed access track with James at the controls of the Doncaster & District Model Engineering Societies locomotive John L Stokes. Jordan keeps a check on Remus's Chassis as the wheels turn for the first time again.

A rather grainy view here (left) taken from a video frame as Remus's chassis is taken around the outer track at Thorne Memorial Park. An action shot  looking down from the driving truck.
