Not a great deal to report this month as members take a break from the operating days in Thorne Memorial Park. Did I say break! The trains may not be running but there is still plenty for us do. Members both past and present of the Sandtoft Miniature Railway group are now very busy involved with track work again, not at Sandtoft but for the circuit at Thorne. We were involved with the trackwork for the outer circuit at Thorne between 2003 and 2004, This time it is replace the rail that was put down at Thorne by the members of the Doncaster & District Model Engineering Society in 1998. Again we are working with steel rail that is not as easy to lay as the aluminium rail we had at Sandtoft up until 2000.

19 years ago at Sandtoft

Work starts on the 24th October 1995 to demolish the original  railway shed constructed in 1983. Strangely this shed had a longer life at Sandtoft as a railway building than its successor costing the members £15,000 out of their own pockets.
