No sooner had we helped the Doncaster & District Model Engineering Society with their 2005 Summer Festival event than it was time to pull out the reserve stops to have a Churchill Event and the a visit by BBC Look North to the tracks of the Thorne Memorial Park Miniature Railway. Our member Stuart Lamming came up at very short notice with the idea of having an event as part of this years VE Celebrations. The local radio station Thorne Moorends Community Radio (TMCR) was visited several times to help promote this event and the BBC visit. It is some years since I have been behind the microphone in a studio of a radio station. Going back to about 1974 I think.
Both events were a great success thanks to the efforts of our members.
