The steam locomotive "Remus" that made its first appearance on the tracks of the Thorne Memorial Park Miniature Railway in May 2000 was given a test steaming on Monday of the 2005 Late Spring Holiday. It was exactly five years to the day that "Remus" made its appearance after the temporary closure of the operations at the Sandtoft Transport Centre (now named "The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft"). The locomotive then operated on many occasions since 2000 having had a yearly overhaul. The locomotive was taken out of service September 2004 for a major overhaul, that included a set of new wheels to replace the ones fitted in 1983 when the locomotive was built.

2003 Summer Festival Event
The locomotive "Remus" was a big attraction at the 2003 Summer Festival Event as is the singer Madeline Roberts who has made an appearance at all the events. With some further work on "Remus" it will be ready for its official planned return to service for the 2005 Summer Festival Event in Thorne Memorial Park on Saturday 30th July 2005. Perhaps we can persuade Madeline for another photo-shoot this year.
