More work is underway to prepare the steam locomotive "Remus" after its steam trials for the Thorne & Moorends on the 30 & 31st July. It has been decided to replace the mechanical water pump with a second steam injector and emergency hand pump. This has involved thanks to the wonderful efforts of Stuart (I am getting to old to get underneath the locomotive at track level) to remove the locomotives cab so as to enable the new pipe-work to be fitted. There is more work involved than we originally planned, but all being well we will get there in time.
Further consultations are underway to cost and organize a profession feasibility study by English Nature for the proposed Thorne Moors Railway. A visit was made to Alan Keef Ltd at Ross-on-Wye to have look at their works and pick up some information about a costing for rolling stock and track. Some very interesting locomotives were under construction, one for a museum in Britain and some overseas work.
