Contrasts 1996 and 2004

Top Left: The railway shed under construction in February 1996
Above: May 1996 with Remus passing the completed shed.
Left: May 2004 the derelict track bed that once offered "living live steam locomotives" is now the foreground to a static display of lawn mowers.

Contrasts 1998 and 2004

Above Left: This will probably be the last surviving section of the original track that is set in the concrete crossing for the car park entrance as seen on the 29th May 2004. The former track bed beyond now offers the visitors the exciting attraction of a Nature Walk. I wonder if late on a misty night there can be heard the "ghostly whistle" of a train approaching the crossing.
Above Right: Looking the opposite way something far more interesting I believe, was the opportunity to take a train ride as here at the 1998 Sandtoft Gathering Event along what is now the nature walk . This was the ideal way for visitors to see the various flora and fauna that was planted by our members alongside the railway track. During the later summer months it was from about here that the Dragon Flies would follow the trains around this part of the circuit.
