August Wednesday School Holiday Specials 1999
These were to be the best mid-week open days to my knowledge that the museum has had with the highest number of visitors with the exception of the Sandtoft Gathering Events . We had hoped to operate a trolleybus thus generating further revenue for the museum, but  the Trolleybus Operations manager at that time would not allow it. Very reluctantly he allowed us to use a trolleybus for second of two operating days in August 1999 after complaints from the head of North Lincolnshire Tourism for the second of two visits by visitors from a FICC International Caravan Rally at Lincoln. It seems to me his actions in my own personal opinion were very mean, dispirited and extremely short sighted.
If you are planning to visit the museum for a mid-week visit in August 2007 hoping there are no Wednesday operating days and there is no railway now either.  At least you can meet some of the same team of volunteers at Thorne Memorial Park Miniature Railway for their August School Holiday Specials. More are planned at Thorne for 2008

August Wednesday School Holiday Special 1999
Further views of what was to be our last Wednesday Specials. The Isle of Axholme Motor Bus Tours proved to be very popular especially as can be seen from the queue of visitors including those from the FICC International Caravan Rally. At the start of the FICC Rally we had attended the Rally Ground with the Eastbourne and in conjunction with North Lincolnshire Tourism Department handed out leaflets for both the museum and other attractions in the area. To many of those from Europe and many other parts of the world it was a unique experience to ride on a double deck bus, a double deck trolleybus would have been the icing on the cake.  A special thank you must go to Neil Hulks, Ken Hulks and North Lincolnshire Tourism for helping to organise bus services from Lincoln, and their valuable support .
